We all know we need to exercise, but what’s the solution when you’re too tired to workout or lack the motivation? It’s tempting to skip exercise altogether, especially when your job and commitments leave you so exhausted the last thing you want to do is hit the gym! Good news: there are easy exercises you can do when you don’t feel 100% or lack workout motivation. Plus, once you get over that first hurdle of starting the workout, you’ll be rewarded with endorphins and a new burst of energy so you can keep powering through your week. So, whether you were celebrating at the weekend, the kids are keeping you up at night, or you’re having a tough week at work, DareBear has some tips for when you’re too tired to workout.
Yoga or Pilates
Want to feel great but don’t have the energy for a high-intensity workout? Yoga and Pilates are the perfect solutions for when you’re too tired and need workout motivation. You can try some easy exercises at first, then amp up the difficulty as you progress. The fluid movements allow time for you to zone out, stop thinking about your to-do list, and instead listen to your body by strengthening muscles, improving flexibility, and reducing stress. As little equipment is needed, you can workout anywhere: from your local park to your living room. Don’t know where to start? We offer a range of live classes you can attend from the comfort of home or see how you can benefit from a personal trainer.
Treadmills, Ellipticals & Exercise Bikes
When you’re tired, you probably won’t fancy trying new exercises. Hopping on a treadmill, elliptical, or bike is super easy and doesn’t require much mental or physical energy. You can adjust the intensity and zone out with some music, try a podcast, or even call a friend! Before you know it, half an hour will have passed.
Go For a Walk
Like the idea of a treadmill but don’t have a gym pass or want to keep it local? Take a stroll. Especially if you’ve been stuck in the office all day, getting outside refreshes your mind and body. This is one of the easiest ways to exercise as even 5 to 20-minute walks have health benefits, so perfect for when you’re too tired to work out.
Pushups or Target Your Abs
You’ve woken up late. You don’t want to break a sweat as you don’t have time to shower, but you really should get a workout in before work. We’ve all been there! The perfect way to get your heart pumping, even if workout motivation is absent and you’re tired is a quick strength workout.
Target your abs to increase core stability and strength (without feeling wiped out) or set a timer for 10 minutes and do some pushups (they can be adapted as easy exercises or harder depending on your ability).
Find a Friend!
The best way to find workout motivation when you’re too tired to workout? Exercising with a friend! Set the time and workout for half an hour: the accountability they offer and the opportunity to socialise is the perfect combo.
Lifting heavy gives you an adrenaline rush (try a compound movement like the squat or deadlift), while your friend spots you to stay safe. Take it in turns and, with any luck, your friend’s presence will add some competitiveness and fun so you can get in a great workout.
